James C. Padula, DO

Pain Management, Board Certified

Dr. Padula has over 25 years of experience in treatment of spine and joint pain. Dr. Padula completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Villanova University. He graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine with Honors.
He completed his internship at Maimonides Medical Center and residency at North Shore University Hospital at Glen Cove. Dr. Padula is trained in interventional Pain Management and Minimally Invasive Surgeries. Dr. Padula also trains physicians in the field of pain management.

Dennis Jones, MD, ABO

Orthopedic Surgeon, Board Certified

Dr. Jones completed medical school in 1990 at The University of Connecticut. He did his internship and residency while on active duty in the United States Army at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He has been in private practice since 1999 after separating from service. His focus primarily on large joint surgery involving the hip, knee, and shoulder and has extensive experience in all aspects of orthopedic surgery over his 25 years in practice.

Dr. David A. Fernandez MD, FACS, FAAOS

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Board Certified

Dr. David A. Fernandez MD, FACS, FAAOS is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon with 30 years of experience.  He obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his orthopedic residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City and the Florida Fellowship in Reconstructive Spinal Surgery in Gainesville, Florida.

Some of the procedures Dr. Fernandez performs include: cervical discectomy and fusion, cervical artificial disc replacement, spinal stenosis procedures, lumbar fusions and instrumentation, minimally invasive micro lumbar discectomies for disc herniations, direct lateral lumbar interbody fusion (XLIF), sacroiliac joint injections and fusions, spinal cord stimulator trials and permanents, Activ8 stimulators for back muscle (multifidus) dysfunction, kyphoplasty for thoracic and lumbar compression fractures, and other spinal procedures.

Dr. Fernandez proudly served our country as a physician in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Commander. While stationed at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD he had the privilege of treating members of Congress and all our Armed Forces, as well as those of foreign allied militaries. Dr. Fernandez earned several awards, including the Meritorious Unit Commendation Armed Forces Service Medal, Fleet Marine Force Designator, National Defense Service Medal, and Pistol Expert. While deployed to Haiti he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for participating in over 90 humanitarian missions providing medical care to the Haitian people, and leading a task force to evaluate the needs of Haiti’s main medical center. A report was forwarded to the Governor of Florida at his request, which secured several hundred thousand dollars’ worth of equipment and supplies for the hospital, significantly improving the quality of care the facility could provide.

Dr. Fernandez is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American Association for Physician Leadership and the Adventist Medical Evangelistic Network. Dr. Fernandez loves to teach and has mentored orthopedic residents and medical students throughout his career as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the College of Human Medicine, Michigan State University.  He has instructed at many spine courses across the country, and is frequently consulted as an orthopedic hardware expert He has lectured on various health topics, preached internationally, and participated in international medical mission trips with his family.  He and his wife, a registered dietitian, have taught numerous vegetarian cooking schools and other health programs for their community.

In their spare time he and his family enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing, and trying international vegetarian cuisine! Dr. Fernandez is fluent in Spanish and is currently learning Portuguese.

Elizabeth Butler, PA-C

Elizabeth (Lisa) Butler, is a board-certified Physician Assistant through the NCCPA

Lisa has been an Orthopedic Surgery PA since completing her board certification in 2010. The majority of her experience has been in the subspecialties of Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Trauma. Lisa joined IPPWC in 2022, where she has been an integral part of the team.

Lisa received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University in 2003, with a double major in Marketing and International Business and a minor in Spanish. She then pursued a career in Orthopedic device sales in the Philadelphia area, where she found her passion for patient care.

Lisa earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree at Marywood University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Lamba Graduate Honor Society and was elected the president of the Class of 2010. She graduated from Marywood University in 2010, after completing her preceptorship at UCSD Orthopedics in Sports Medicine & Trauma.

Since joining the team here at IPPWC, Lisa has continued to gain experience in Orthopedic Spine, Neurosurgery, Interventional Pain Management, and Personal Injury.

In her spare time, Lisa can be found spending time with her husband and kids. She enjoys working out, playing tennis, traveling with her family and is often found on the soccer or lacrosse fields with her two kids.
